New Publication: Balancing Chicken Welfare and Sustainability

A new ReSus-affilated study is published! The reserach explores the trade-offs between improving broiler chicken welfare and reducing greenhouse gas emissions in poultry production. The study assess how reducing stocking density and using slower-growing broiler hybrids impact animal welfare and emissions in Swedish broiler systems. The findings highlight that while slower-growing hybrids significantly improve welfare, they also increase emissions, raising important questions about priorities in sustainable food production.
