Who We Are

The Retail for Sustainability Project (ReSus) is a four-year project funded by Formas, a Swedish government research council for sustainable development. The project kicked off in mid 2022 and will run until mid 2025. It involves researchers and public and private sector partners, including active collaboration from the largest retailers in Sweden.

Our mission is to realise the unrealised potential of supermarkets in enabling the shift to sustainable production and consumption of food. We aim to investigate approaches for leveraging the capacity of the retail sector to be a positive force in the food system, incentivising producers, suppliers and consumers to move towards sustainability.

Our team includes a broad set of competencies, ranging from food system science, marketing, environmental psychology and sustainability science. It includes both academic and non-academic organisations (Matlust and Axfoundation)

Matlust is a regional node and engine for the development of a sustainable and innovative food system. They drive several development projects and ofter cost free development support and advice to small and medium size enterprises that wish to grow while working actively with questions and challenges around sustainability.

Axfoundation is an independent, non-profit organization working practically and concretely towards building a sustainable society. Believing strongly in business as a driving force for change, we often initiate and run projects together with the private sector. Together with over 300 partners across sectors and industries we tackle local and global sustainability challenges based on practical issues related to the things we buy, the food we eat and the resources we use.
